Geoff Hinds has joined Gendy Street Management Corp. as general manager. In this role, he will oversee the staff and operations of the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Hinds began his position with GSMC on September 1. The nonprofit organization then assumed management of the city-owned Will Rogers Memorial Center on October 1.
Hinds comes to Fort Worth from Cheyenne Frontier Days, where he served as chief operating officer. His career includes experience managing events, venues, rodeos, equestrian competitions, and agricultural events.
He has also worked with music festivals, concerts, and destination attractions. That range of experience will support his leadership of one of Fort Worth’s most recognizable event facilities.
The Will Rogers Memorial Center has hosted agricultural, equestrian, entertainment, and community events for 90 years. Today, the facility remains an important part of Fort Worth’s Western identity and events industry.
As general manager, Hinds will lead the team responsible for serving the many organizations, exhibitors, competitors, and guests who use the grounds each year.
Gendy Street Management Corp. is a nonprofit overseen by the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, Trail Drive Management Corp., and Events Facilities Fort Worth.
Trail Drive Management Corp. also operates Dickies Arena through an agreement with the City of Fort Worth. Events Facilities Fort Worth helped lead the arena’s construction.
The new agreement continues Fort Worth’s long history of public-private partnerships. Community leaders have used that model to develop and operate several of the city’s best-known facilities and attractions.
Under the agreement, GSMC has assumed responsibility for Will Rogers Memorial Center’s staff and daily operations. The management model is also intended to help address needed capital improvements at the facility.
The transition comes as Fort Worth continues to strengthen its position as a destination for Western sports, agriculture, and entertainment.
“Fort Worth is the epicenter of Western equestrian sports,” Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo President and General Manager Matt Carter said. He added that strong venue management remains important to both the Stock Show and the city’s long-term economic strength.
“Geoff Hinds and the outstanding team at the Will Rogers Memorial Center will ensure Fort Worth maintains our prominent stature,” Carter said.
Hinds now steps into a role that brings together his experience in venue management, rodeo, agriculture, and equestrian events. His appointment also marks the beginning of a new operating chapter for the historic Will Rogers Memorial Center.
