ABOUT
SCHOOLS OF THE WEST

In this episode of Leaders Of The West, Jessie sits down with western artist Gina Teichert, a Nevada-born, California-based painter whose work captures the perfect blend of tradition, fashion, and a little Clint Eastwood grit.
Gina’s story is what happens when the West meets big-city creativity. Her paintings reflect both the timeless spirit of ranch life and the boldness of contemporary art. Together, we dive into what it means to tell the story of the West through art, and how exhibitions like the Coors Young Guns show are opening doors for new voices and collectors to shape what “western art” looks like today.
In the episode Gina shares:
Best known for her pinup cowgirls and illustrative paintings that fuse cowboy mythology with a bit of the strange, Gina Teichert paints the American West with a wink. From cosmic cowgirls to Martian landscapes and neon signs, Teichert’s visual vocabulary plays with the idea of the West as it was and is today. Raised on a cattle ranch in rural Nevada, her motifs toggle between pastoral scenes of her high desert childhood and the moody undercurrents of film noir—her figures half rancher’s daughter, half femme fatale.
While also working in the modeling industry, Teichert studied painting at the Academy of Art San Francisco, taking parts of classical art history and glossy fashion magazines to create a style that is bold and editorial with emphasis on color and graphic design.
Teichert shows art in cities with Western flavor like Los Angeles, Austin, and Denver and calls rural Napa County, California home.
Her work has been featured Western Art Collector, Southwest Art, Cowboys & Indians, the San Francisco Chronicle, LA Weekly, and ABC news. She is a regular contributor to Western art and culture publications and an occasional panelist discussing the business of art.
Leaders Of The West is a podcast for innovators and change-makers in the ag and western industries. Hosted by Jessie Jarvis, the Founder of Of The West, our mission with Leaders Of The West is to foster a community of pioneers, innovators, and leaders who want to be at the forefront of what’s next.
Whether it’s a guest episode where we’re digging into the blueprints behind our favorite industry businesses, discussing the innovation and strategies that have allowed family farming and ranching operations to continue on for another generation, to episodes with honest conversations from entrepreneurs who have risked it all on their dreams, or leaders detailing how to create a company culture so strong that you couldn’t pay your employees to leave.
These conversations are meant to encourage the leaders of today and inspire the next generation of trailblazers.
In addition to bringing in guests, you’ll also find some solo episodes, where Jessie shares the lessons she’s learned throughout her journey as a rancher, entrepreneur, wife, and mother.
Whether you’re a farmer, a rancher, an equine lover, someone headed up the leadership ladder, an ag business owner, a western sports athlete, an entrepreneur, or someone who just loves the western way of life—this is the place for you.
You’ll find new episodes every week. Don’t forget to subscribe, so you never miss a show!
